GREENWASHED

DECEIVED INTO FALSELY BELIEVING THAT A PRODUCT IS HEALTHY.

The #1 recommended brand by dermatologists sells products with parabens that disrupt the endocrine system.

The National Association of Eczema recommends products with sulfates that destroy the skin barrier.

And 'clean skincare' brands aren't so clean when you search their ingredients on EWG.

BABY POWDER

It took 130 years for consumers to prove that Johnson & Johnson's baby powder gave them cancer. J&J first started selling baby powder in 1894 and settlement payments are still being negotiated in 2024.

There are no rules in the cosmetic industry.

FDA REGULATIONS

The rules to regulate cosmetics were last changed in 1938. The FDA has just nine ingredients banned in personal care while the European Union has over 1,600.

THE FRAGRANCE LOOPHOLES

Fragrance, flavors, and even essential oils are considered trade secrets. Their components are not legally required to be disclosed. Using them allows companies to hide any chemical they desire.

THE BAD GUYS

WATER

WATER YOU TALKING ABOUT?

If a product contains water, it needs a full-spectrum preservative to kill off unwanted bacterial growth.

Unfortunately, no full-spectrum preservatives exist that are safe.

PRESERVATIVES

They also kill off the good bacteria in your gut that maintains healthy hormones in your endocrine system. Preservatives are so harsh that they also strip down vital layers of skin.

SUNSCREEN

The same thing that happened with baby powder is currently unfolding with sunscreen. Chemical sunscreen is poisoning us. It's all over the news, google it.

HYALURONIC ACID

It can be good for you, but it comes from the red stuff (below) on a rooster. Are you sure you're getting a healthy cock?

COLLAGEN

Can also be good for you, but most collagen collection comes from cows, pigs, and marine animals. Where it comes from is important.

Introduced in 1923 as a cheap, mass-produced preservative. Recently, its links to health concerns have caused it to lose favorability, but when one problem is solved another arises. Cheap alternatives, disguised with different names, have flooded the market preserving ingredients the same way and causing the same damage.

Aloe vera used by companies is not as pure as you think. It requires a preservative, yet the preservative does not need to be listed. This creates another opportunity for companies to hide toxic chemicals.

The version you get is created in a lab and doesn't provide the same benefits as receiving it from nature. Ceramides can be found naturally in jojoba, grape seeds, and many other ingredients we use. It shouldn't be created in a lab.

Coco-betaine has an EWG score of 1. Good right? Not so fast. The same ingredient, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, has a terrible score of 5. Ingredients on EWG can be listed under aliases or synonyms.

Coco-betaine is a commonly used foaming agent that is not as safe as advertised.
